How do I make potato papad right?
Potato papad is a crispy and delicious Indian snack that is made from potato and spices. Here's how you can make potato papad at home:
Ingredients:
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1/2 cup rice flour
- 1/4 cup gram flour (besan)
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, add grated potatoes, rice flour, gram flour, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
Slowly add water, little by little, and knead the mixture into a smooth dough. The dough should be pliable and not too soft or too hard.
Take a small ball of the dough and flatten it on a greased surface. You can use a rolling pin or a flat surface to make it into a thin round disc.
Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the papad in the pan.
Fry the papad on both sides until it turns crispy and golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the papad from the oil and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Serve the potato papad with chutney or sauce of your choice.
Note: Be careful while frying the papad, as it can splatter oil. You can also add other spices of your choice, such as garam masala or turmeric powder, to give it a different flavor.
